Science & Technology Anthropology NB. The group is full at the moment and we are not taking any more names for the waiting list. What we do Anthropology is the study of mankind. We explore aspects of mankind from both a biological and cultural viewpoint using visual presentations, talks and discussion. We look at how evolutionary processes have led to mankind as we know it today. No prior knowledge is necessary - just curiosity. The cost per meeting is £4 which includes refreshments. Learn about plants that grown on hillsides, in woodlands, hedgerows, grasslands, riverbanks and wetlands and how to identify them through talks, presentations and field trips. Meeting Area: Ystradgynlais Meeting Day: TBA Geology What we do: We meet at different locations where we walk and study the Geology of the local area with an expert. Group members are asked to bring a picnic lunch, good walking boots and waterproof clothing. Attendees are welcome to suggest subjects they would like us to cover. Each week we look at a different subject so if you miss any classes you will not fall behind. We have a comfortable venue with free parking and secure Wi-Fi. Please bring your iPad/iPhone to the class. Did you dislike Maths at school? Did Maths lessons make you feel anxious?
This course is a continuation of the ten ‘Maths for the Terrified’ sessions which started in February 2024.
You will require some previous knowledge of Number and Algebra.
Real life applications will be included in most of the areas covered.
Equipment needed:
A ruler, pencil, scientific calculator, protractor and a pair of scissors (to cut paper).
Progress in Maths mostly relies upon prior knowledge and skills, so regular attendance is recommended. The fee for this group will therefore be a single payment for the five sessions of £10.
I will be starting this terms course on Friday 17th October 2025.

The Natural History walks will follow different 'themes' such as Woodland, Rocky Shore, Birdsong, Bat-walks, Freshwater, Mammals etc.
Numbers would have to be limited and the walks would be fairly short and not taxing.
